, an Emerson Impact Partner, the global leader of automation systems and solutions, is currently offering an opportunity for a field based Control System / Application Engineer on our customer-oriented, fast-paced Field Service team.
The successful candidate will assist our automation and digital transformation system customers in developing, delivering, maintaining, and optimizing our state-of-the-art automation and digital transformation solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Control System / Application Engineer:
Work with our customers to:
Become a Trusted Advisor by actively listening and communicating to accomplish their goals Participate in the establishment, measurement, and achievement of customer satisfaction metrics Provide an ongoing communication channel between them and internal teams to ensure expectations are well established and understood Manage expectations and engagement scope to ensure a clear understanding of technological capabilities and limitations Comply with internal and customer safety programs Recommend and implement plant floor digital transformation technologies, including Operational Analytics, Production Data Management, and Operations Management Recommend and implement improvement to Distributed Control Systems, PLC, and other control systems Provide ongoing site support, which may include:
Distributed Control System configuration, commissioning, startup, and tuning Distributed Control System, field instrumentation, and valve-related situations troubleshooting and problem resolution Configuration optimization of both batch and continuous process control Loop tuning Troubleshooting field instrumentation and valve application Interfaces to PLCs, drives, and various control bus networks Cybersecurity Microsoft Windows administrator functions Ethernet IP networks Setup and configuration of Operational Analytics, Production Data Management, and Operations Management systems Work to grow Novaspect as an employee-owner of our ESOP Develop new and improve existing engineering tools Work as a team with sales to market, find, and sell solutions Work as a team Work independently and as part of a team supporting a customer Coordinate with internal sales and project teams to help investigate and resolve complex obstacles Help colleagues as they encounter situations they are not as familiar with Provide clear and frequent communications Perform diagnostic and troubleshooting over the phone Create in-depth and professional engineering proposals and reports Author whitepapers on engineering subjects Converse with other industry experts about technical concepts Deliver presentations to external and internal customers Articulate and communicate solutions to both engineers and non-engineers Education and/or
Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology field 3-5 years of experience in the control system engineering field programming from scratch and making modifications to code required 3-5 years DeltaV experience preferred or 5-7 years in another DCS/PLC experience preferred Field application of industrial instrumentation preferred Microsoft administration and TCPIP networking knowledge a plus Emerson Product Knowledge is a plus Additional Requirements:
Own and maintain an individual learning and development plan of continuous learning, including soft skills and the latest technologies Ability to travel throughout the designated service area (typically travel is by company vehicle and most events are day trips with up to 35% hotel stays depending on your home base) Role will be onsite for 2-5 years A valid U.

Cash compensation potential:
$82,000-$134,000 (inclusive of base, bonus, OT) Company car eligible OT eligible
